Why Film Transfer Matters

Home movie film was never meant to last forever.

Over time, 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm film can become fragile, faded, or difficult to play due to aging materials and the disappearance of working projectors.

Film transfer allows you to protect what remains by converting your original reels into accessible digital files.

  • Your memories are preserved before further deterioration

  • Footage can be viewed on modern devices

  • Family members can easily share and enjoy your home movies

  • Your originals no longer need to be handled repeatedly

Digitizing your film helps ensure:

What Happens to Film Over Time

Common issues include:

  • Brittleness or curling

  • Fading colors and loss of contrast

  • Dust, scratches, and physical wear

  • Limited or non-functional playback equipment

Film naturally degrades as it ages, even when stored carefully.

Once a VHS tape deteriorates, the damage is often permanent.

Creating digital files preserves the content while reducing handling of the original tape.
